Kerfuffle

KERFUFFLE

Kerfuffle is an animated short film about the human battle between fear and the authentic self. The 7-minute visually arresting rollercoaster is set in an alternate reality, a world where unregulated negative thoughts intensify and incarnate into a duplicate, shadow self, a copy that sucks the soul over time. Kerfuffle’s provoking imagery depicts an unconscious mind given free reign. After the androgynous protagonist, Snurf, manifests his anxiety, he panics, providing the fuel for his own personal nightmare. Snurf's constant reactions stunt a major realization: his ability to alter the outcome through conscious thought. The film aims to raise awareness for self-reflection and encourages establishing an inner connection to help navigate negative spirals and limiting beliefs in real life.

Creatures

CREATURES

This is a mini-episode in a greater series that personifies an element of a person’s “shadow side” (ex: an addiction, compulsion, chemical imbalance), in the form of a Creature, which is isolated and observed in its native setting. In this episode, Reef depicts a lucid dream sequence, or “visitation” — one of many he’s experienced over the course of his life. The exposure to a more complex dreamscape has made it hard for him to assimilate and connect with waking reality. He turns to escapist tendencies to cope with a harsh, backward world.

Septaria

SEPTARIA

Live action, 2D and 3D animation unite to create a dreamlike hallucination across multiple dimensions. Symbols and rapid cuts stimulate the subconscious mind—the intent is for the viewer to disengage from conscious thought and experience an intuitive world that speaks through visuals. Septaria, an anagram for parasite, contains many parallels to the current pandemic. Septaria speaks to lost generations with a voice of surreal foretelling in terms of subversion, brainwashing and indoctrination.

Badlands

THE BADLANDS

Divynia is an acro duo able to alter the time-space continuum barefoot and covered in glitter. We track them deep inside the Bisti/De-Na-Zin wilderness as they showcase a dual-pronged conscious exchange: a silent communication and communion between themselves and their surroundings. Through somatic movement, Divynia’s highly attuned contact improvisation catalyzes deeper perceptions of self amidst a surreal, sprawling desert landscape.

OTHER PEOPLE'S PARTIES

Other People's Parties is an unscripted mini-series that follows four friends attending strangers' parties. This is an unplanned reality show shot with one camera, capturing authentic party experiences, unexpected encounters and genuine interactions with strangers to form an episodic storytelling of party-going. The unstaged moments in Other People's Parties capture the spectrum contained in an instant; the glory and gore of the fleeting and real.

OTHER PEOPLE'S PARTIES

Guerilla creators itching for the next fix. Snuck away to the camping area during the River of Souls music festival and set a new scene, our blue light beaming from center field. As bass music shook the ground, we radiated Future from the fringes. Lenses and angles and (oOh yyyes, right there, wow, WOW, let's run it again, and again, and again, fuck, it looks so good, one more time!) oblivious to the biting wind. Let enough alchemists stay slept on and they start taking side trails to each other and turning anything into a stage.
